NORA Sleep — Support
NORA is a sleep companion that does not ask you to know what works. It asks four short questions about how your nights actually go, forms a first idea from them, and then learns from what you listen to, what you leave, and what you come back to. Everything it learns stays on your phone.
1.What you need
- An iPhone running a recent version of iOS.
- Nothing else. There is no account, no sign-up and no server.
The app works with no network connection. Headphones are worth using: several of the environments are built from deep, low-frequency sound that a phone speaker cannot reproduce.
2.The four questions
NORA never asks which sounds you like. It asks how your mind is when you get into bed, where you feel most at ease, what usually gets in the way, and how long you normally take to fall asleep. From those it derives a first hypothesis — stated as a hypothesis, not as a verdict — and offers three environments: one close to that idea, one that tests the part it is least sure about, and one deliberately far from both.
You can redo the questions at any time from Settings → Start over. Your language choice is kept; everything NORA has learned is cleared.
3.How a session works
Tap a sound and the night begins. The volume rises gently rather than arriving, holds, and then fades to nothing so that silence is never an event you notice. The player says what happens next — “fades out on its own in about 48 min” — and the timer under the volume changes it: a fixed length, or all night.
Twenty seconds after your last touch the screen goes dark and still. Touching it anywhere brings it back; that first touch only wakes the screen, so nothing can be pressed by accident. The clock is hidden on purpose.
Back returns to the list without stopping the sound. Choosing a different environment crossfades into it. End finishes the night.
4.Playing with the screen locked
Sound continues when you lock the phone or switch apps. The lock screen and your headphone controls can pause and resume it. If your headphones disconnect, the session ends rather than switching to the phone's speaker.
5.Languages
English, Turkish and German. The language is chosen on first launch and changed afterwards in Settings. It is a preference, not something NORA learns from.
6.Your data
There is no account and no server. Your answers and your listening history live in a single file on your phone, included in your own device backup and nowhere else. Deleting the app deletes all of it. See the privacy policy for the detail.
7.Getting help
Write to [email protected]. Tell us your iOS version and what you were doing; there is no diagnostic report to attach, because the app sends nothing anywhere.
