Home Sentinel — Privacy Policy

Home Sentinel is a client for a home monitoring system that runs on hardware you own. This policy describes what the iOS app does with data. It is short because the app does very little: it signs in to a server you control, displays what that server reports, and keeps nothing else.

1.The app collects no personal data

Home Sentinel contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party software development kits of any kind. It has no dependencies beyond Apple's own frameworks. It does not track you across apps or websites, and it builds no profile of you.

Because of this, the App Store privacy label for Home Sentinel reads Data Not Collected.

2.The app does not talk to Graf Clouds

The only network destination the app contacts is the home server address configured for your installation, over an encrypted connection. Your camera list, recording status, alerts and events travel between your phone and your own server. They do not pass through Graf Clouds, and we cannot see them.

Recognition of faces and vehicle number plates runs on your own hardware, in your home, against a database you populate yourself. No images or recognition data are sent to any third-party cloud service for analysis.

3.Signing in

Accounts are created by the operator of the home server. There is no sign-up in the app, and no way to create an account from it. Signing in is username and password only — there are no third-party sign-in providers.

Your password is sent to your own server to be verified and is not stored on the device. The session token the server returns is held in the iOS Keychain, marked so that it stays on the device it was issued to and is never carried to another device by a backup. Signing out deletes it.

4.Permissions the app does not ask for

Home Sentinel requests no access to your location, camera, microphone, photo library, contacts, calendars, health data, or Bluetooth. It does not use any of Apple's “required reason” APIs, and it does not read or write files outside its own container.

5.What your home server keeps

The server is yours, so its retention is yours to set. In a standard installation it stores camera recordings, detection events and the face and plate references you enrolled, on disks in your home. Graf Clouds does not operate that server, does not hold a copy of its data, and has no access to it unless you have separately engaged us to administer it under a contract.

6.Deleting your account

Because accounts are created on your home server rather than in the app, they are removed the same way: the operator of that server deletes the account, which immediately invalidates every session token issued to it. If you are not the operator, ask them, or write to [email protected] and we will pass the request on.

7.Children

Home Sentinel is not directed at children and is not designed for use by them. It cannot be opened without an account issued by a household's own administrator.

8.Changes

If the app's data practices change, this page changes with them and the date above is updated. Material changes will also be described in the App Store release notes for the version that introduces them.
